Cruel Hamas propaganda
WATCH: Sign of life from hostages Elkana Bohbot and Yosef Haim Ohana
We had names and hopes, but now we have been reduced to numbers. Please listen to us.

Hamas released a video today showing Israeli hostages Elkana Bohbot and Yosef Haim Ohana, held in Gaza for 535 days since their abduction from the Nova music festival in Re’im on October 7, 2023. This is the first time the two have appeared in videos published by Hamas, though signs of life from both were received during Phase A of the latest hostage release deal. In the video, Bohbot and Ohana reference the resumption of fighting on March 18.
Elkana and Yosef were obviously coerced into referencing the resumed clashes, explaining how Hamas has been taking care of them so well, giving them whatever they need and want. (Really?!) It's just another cruel jab by their captors at Israel’s unyielding resolve.
They also guilt trip Ohad ben Ami, who was released recently, telling him to fight harder for their release: "Ohad, why don't you tell them? You were here with us, sitting with us. Explain to everyone what we've been going through. You know how much suffering we are going through here. You know how hard it was during the deal and the war. Now you are home with your wife and daughters. We also want to go home."
Last week, Ruhama Bohbot, Elkana’s mother, spoke on Kan Reshet Bet’s “Kalman Liberman” program about the renewed fighting in Gaza and her family’s challenges. She mentioned a recent sign of life from her son, saying, “I want someone to tell me, ‘Ruhama, in such-and-such time, your son will be home.’” Last month, Yosef’s aunt, Hana Musteronov, told reporters the family received an indication he is alive, without specifying how the information was obtained.
Earlier this month, they trotted out abducted soldier Matan Angrest, snatched from Nahal Oz on October 7, forcing him to name his family and say, “I’m sure you’re fighting for me and doing everything to bring me home.” Two weeks prior, hostages Aviatar David and Guy Gilboa-Dalal were paraded in a video, made to watch a staged hostage release from a car near a Hamas-orchestrated “ceremony”—a grotesque mockery before being whisked away by their terrorist jailers.
Hamas knows that these videos drive Israelis crazy, and they enjoy it.
