IDF Drafts New Cohort of Combat Fighters Amid Ongoing Conflict
IDF mobilizes thousands of new recruits amid intense fighting: The next generation of combat fighters
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has officially begun recruiting for its March-April 2025 cohort, bringing in the next generation of combat fighters to strengthen its forces as fighting continues across multiple fronts.

The IDF Spokesperson reported on Sunday that the draft process is now underway, with new male and female soldiers set to fill vital combat roles in the field units.
In the coming weeks, thousands of recruits will report to recruitment centers across Israel to begin their military service, joining the ranks of the IDF at a time of heightened security and ongoing conflict. The recruitment process is not only a standard induction but also a significant response to the current operational needs of the military, as it prepares for further challenges on the battlefield.
According to IDF data, the new recruits are diverse, with 62.74% of them being men and 37.26% women. The age range of the recruits spans from 18 years old to 33 years old, with the average age being 19.27 years. Among them are 1,133 new immigrants, with the largest groups coming from the United States, Russia, and Ethiopia. Additionally, 709 of the recruits are lone soldiers, and 393 hail from communities located along the Gaza border, where security concerns are particularly high.
Notably, 46 of the new recruits come from families directly affected by the October 7th massacre, highlighting the personal impact and resolve that these recruits bring to their service.
The IDF has made specific adjustments to the recruitment and training programs to meet the demands of the ongoing conflict, ensuring that new soldiers receive the appropriate training and equipment. Each recruit is issued full winter gear, including coats, neck warmers, and gloves, to ensure they are prepared for the challenging conditions ahead. Additionally, recruits are given vouchers for personal equipment, and special accommodations are made for vegan and vegetarian soldiers to cater to their dietary preferences.
This new cohort of recruits is set to play a crucial role in fortifying the IDF's combat capabilities as the country continues to navigate its security challenges and prepare for what lies ahead in the ongoing conflict.
