IN COLOR: Israeli kids get into the Purim spirit
Today is one of my favorite days in Israel. These kids remind me what we're fighting so hard to protect.

Spring is in the air, and in Israel, that means one thing: Purim is coming! This joyous Jewish holiday, which celebrates the triumph of good over evil from the Book of Esther, is a time for feasting, gift-giving, and—most exciting for kids—dressing up in the wildest, most colorful costumes imaginable. Across the country, children are already buzzing with excitement, turning streets and schools into a vibrant parade of creativity.
From tiny superheroes to pint-sized princesses, Israeli kids are embracing the Purim spirit with flair. Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and beyond, the energy is electric as kids trade candy-filled mishloach manot baskets and twirl in outfits that rival a rainbow.
Purim isn’t just a holiday—it’s a full-on celebration of imagination. For Israeli kids, it’s their chance to shine, whether they’re rocking a homemade cape or a store-bought lion mane. And after everything they have endured, they deserve this moment.
This year, it's a three day celebration. While other cities will be celebrating Purim on Friday, Jerusalem is celebrating on Sunday. Many people who don't live in Jerusalem will flood the city, enjoying an extra day of Purim fun.
