With Ramadan tensions rising, the IDF and Shin Bet brace for unrest with a surge in funding and arms to the Palestinian Authority, with released terrorists fueling security fears.

After long months of fighting and tension on all fronts, the Judea and Samaria arena is now on the verge of a sharp turn. Although the number of attacks has decreased, the series of events expected to peak in the coming weeks and affect the sensitive security situation in Judea and Samaria.

The recent attacks that took place in the heart of Israel, including the planting of explosive devices on buses in the Bat Yam area that did not explode, indicate a trend that may be changing. Apparently, there is no direct connection between these attacks, but they create a sense of a deteriorating security situation.

The IDF and the Shin Bet are still investigating the attempted combined attack, while at the same time trying to preserve the situation so that it does not escalate. Alongside all of these, there are several points that are coming together in the coming weeks and could lead to escalation.

Hundreds of Palestinian prisoners were released to Judea and Samaria as part of the hostage deal. The defense establishment repeatedly says that this is the price they have to pay and that they are supervising the released prisoners. Just a few weeks ago, a senior security official said that about 80 percent of the terrorists who were released are expected to return to terror in one way or another.

The religious element has always been a very significant trigger for the terrorist organizations to escalate and export attacks. The assassinated Hamas leader, Yahya Sinwar, also called the October 7 attack "the Al-Aqsa Flood" and claimed that one of the reasons for going to it was that Israel was committing crimes against the mosque holy to Muslims.

The Cabinet has not yet approved the defense establishment's recommendation, according to which the entry of about 10,000 worshippers to the Temple Mount should be approved, as it was last year. The Ramadan period, as in every year, is naturally sensitive, and therefore offensive activity by the forces in Samaria as part of Operation Iron Wall, along with the way events on the Temple Mount are managed, will also affect the situation on the ground.
