Syrians beg us for protection
Syrian Alawites plead with Israel: "Strike Al-Julani’s forces from the air!"
Residents of Latakia describe brutal ethnic cleansing, forced seizures, and hours-long gunfire exchanges as they call for urgent intervention.

Syrian Alawites in the coastal province of Latakia are pleading for Israeli airstrikes against Ahmed al-Sharaa's (Al-Julani) forces, warning that mass killings and ethnic cleansing are underway. In conversations with Israel Hayom, residents described horrific atrocities, including homes being burned, people slaughtered, and civilians being forced to sign over their property and money.
Nearly 1,000 Alawites have been murdered in recent days in horrific massacres carried out by Islamist forces in western Syria. While the UN stutters and the world (again) stands idly by, the regime in Damascus is trying to convey that "things are under control" and has announced the establishment of a commission of inquiry into the attack carried out by its own people. Alawites who spoke to Israel Hayom call on Israel to attack the regime's gunmen and disavow the Assad regime.
On the other hand, the Syrian government's security official in the coastal area claimed tonight that the remnants of the Assad regime are receiving indirect aid from Iran, and that there are "foreign elements that seek to take advantage of the situation" to help the cells logistically and in the media.
"This committee is rejected by us. That's not what will please us. Only resolutions of the United Nations, human rights organizations and the countries that stand by the Syrians will please us. They are the ones who need to set up a commission of inquiry," Allawi from the coastal region told Israel Hayom. He lived in one of the villages in the Tartus area and fled with his children to the city to avoid the massacres. "Al-Julani and his gang can't control. But they don't admit it and try to shirk responsibility."
In a message to Israel, he says: "We are addressing you and everyone. We don't want him (Al-Julani). Take him out. When they decided to hold demonstrations to overthrow the Al-Julani regime, they raised their weapons and opened fire at demonstrators. I hope you will convey the message that this is a corrupt regime like its predecessor. A murderous and criminal regime. He must not survive. Israel must protect us and attack with its air force all the factions affiliated with Al-Julani on the Syrian coast, including Latakia and Tartus and their suburbs. No country responds to us. Not even the Russians who have been in our country for years. Israel is the only one that can protect us."
Another Syrian from the city of Latakia told Israel Hayom that the organized attacks on members of the new government were what sparked the massacres. "What has happened since March 6 is an organized attack on the security forces and police in Syria. That night, they killed 120 young men from the security forces and the police, and wounded, captured, and besieged dozens of others. Civilians were also killed."
As a result, he says, the citizens found themselves defenseless, as there was no longer a security force or police: "The result of this attack was the opening of the door to this chaos. That night, I treated a journalist who was wounded while covering the battles between the remnants of the regime and the security forces. We were besieged for about 13 hours."
