Hamas Leader Claims Next Released Prisoners Will Liberate Jerusalem

Hamas Leader’s horrifying vow: "Freed prisoners will take over Jerusalem next"

Zaher Jabareen, the head of Hamas in Judea and Samaria, declared at a tribute event in Cairo on March 8, 2025, that the release of security prisoners from Israeli jails under the recent ceasefire agreement marks a significant victory for Palestinian resistance.

Speaking passionately to an audience honoring the freed detainees, Jabareen asserted that this milestone proves Israel’s inability to crush Palestinian resolve, despite its political backing and resources. He framed the releases as a testament to Hamas’s unwavering commitment to its cause, vowing that the group “will not rest until the last prisoner goes home with his head high.”

Jabareen hailed the ceasefire deal as a “respectable” achievement, emphasizing Hamas’s ongoing efforts to secure the freedom of all security prisoners and ultimately “liberate” Jerusalem from Israeli control. Addressing those still incarcerated, he offered a message of hope: “Your time of freedom is near,” reinforcing Hamas’s pledge to exhaust every avenue—diplomatic, militant, or otherwise—to empty Israel’s prisons. His rhetoric escalated as he predicted a grander role for the released prisoners, claiming, “The released prisoners will be the ones to liberate Al-Aqsa Mosque after they return to their people and their Islamic nation, following years of steadfastness and defiance in the prisons of the Nazi fascist occupation.”

The event in Cairo served as both a celebration and a rallying cry, with Jabareen positioning the prisoner releases as a stepping stone toward broader ambitions. His reference to Al-Aqsa Mosque—a site of profound religious and political significance—ties the individual victories of freed detainees to Hamas’s larger ideological narrative of reclaiming Jerusalem by any means neccesary. By invoking terms like “Nazi fascist occupation,” Jabareen sought to galvanize support, casting Israel as an oppressive force undone by Palestinian resilience. As ceasefire talks continue, his statements signal Hamas’s intent to leverage these releases as fuel for its ongoing confrontation with Israel.
