During his recent visit to Gaza, Zamir conducted an exercise in the Strip and has now ordered a surprise drill to test the IDF’s ability to respond to infiltration scenarios at key bases and outposts.

The exercise will simulate multiple, simultaneous infiltrations at the Ramat David base, an essential IDF site, and is designed to evaluate the military’s preparedness under unforeseen circumstances. The Operations Directorate, in collaboration with the Urban Warfare Training Center and the IDF Comptroller, is managing the drill. Participants will witness significant movement from security forces and the Air Force, and there will be controlled explosions to simulate the chaos of an actual infiltration.

In addition to the exercise, Zamir has ordered an unannounced inspection of the Northern Command sector to evaluate operational readiness and discipline. This inspection will be led by Brig.-Gen. (res.) Ofer Sari, IDF’s Comptroller, and will involve both regular and reserve inspectors, ensuring that the IDF is fully prepared for any potential security threats.

Zamir’s decision to initiate these surprise exercises reflects his commitment to maintaining high operational standards. His hands-on approach was evident during his first day in Gaza, where he surprised commanders with an unexpected exercise simulating an attack similar to the October 7 massacre. This move not only underscores his leadership style but also serves as a reminder of the high-level preparedness required to protect Israel’s borders and military assets.
