On that fateful night, just after the Sabbath evening prayer, residents of the area were shaken by a loud explosion. Panic spread through the neighborhood, with people quickly seeking cover, unsure of what had happened. As the initial shock subsided, the residents slowly ventured out of their hiding spots to assess the situation. What they discovered was nothing short of miraculous.

A bullet, believed to have been fired from the nearby Shuafat neighborhood, had struck a power pole with incredible force. The bullet’s trajectory could have been disastrous, as it had the potential to hit the group of children who were playing in the area at that very moment. Miraculously, the bullet missed the children by mere inches, sparing their lives in what can only be described as a stroke of good fortune.

One of the residents, speaking to Kikar Shabbat, shared the harrowing moment, explaining that his nine-year-old son was among the children playing nearby when the bullet struck. “This is a miracle,” he said. “In an instant, my son’s life, along with the lives of dozens of other children, was saved. It is only by divine intervention that no one was injured.”

The police were immediately notified, and an investigation was launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The bullet, along with the power pole, has been seized as part of the inquiry. Authorities are currently examining whether this was an intentional act or a random shooting.

As the investigation continues, the residents of French Hill gathered for their third meal of the Sabbath, offering prayers of thanks for their safety. "If God does not guard the city, the watchman stays awake in vain," one of the residents reflected, as the community came together to express their gratitude for the miraculous escape. The investigation into this incident is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as more details emerge.
