Demari's post received thousands of responses and shares, with many users expressing support and appreciation for the strength and optimism she displays despite the severe trauma she experienced in captivity. Many users have turned the symbol of Emily's injured hand into a symbol of power and resilience.

Demari recently underwent a series of surgeries to repair the damage to her hand and other injuries, including damage caused by negligent medical treatments she received while in Hamas captivity, which added to the harm.

Israel recently announced that it accepted the Witkoff parameters for the second phase of the hostage deal, in which half the living and slain hostages will be released and the other half if Israel and Hamas can agree on terms for a permanent ceasefire. Otherwise, the IDF will renew the offensive.

Hamas has rejected this, arguing that Israel must adhere strictly to the terms of the original deal, including agreeing to an end to the war before a single additional hostage is freed.
