According to Syrian sources, these strikes are taking place together with a ground effort - including tanks, according to some sources - in the Daraa area in southern Syria.

Defense Minister Israel Katz released a statement regarding the strikes:

The Air Force is currently striking powerfully in southern Syria as part of the new policy we have defined for demilitarizing southern Syria - and the message is clear: we will not allow southern Syria to become southern Lebanon.

We will not risk the security of our citizens. Any attempt by Syrian regime forces and terrorist organizations in the country to establish themselves in the security zone in southern Syria - will be met with fire.
