Yaki Ben Chaim, Mayor of the northern city of Migdal HaEmek, announced today (Sunday) that a street in the city would be named for the Bibas family, in memory of their brutal kidnapping and murder at the hands of Hamas.

Here is the full statement:

At the initiative of Migdal HaEmek Mayor Yaki Ben Chaim, it was decided to recommend to the Names Committee to commemorate the memory of the Bibas family members, who were brutally murdered by Hamas terrorists, and name a street in the city after them, subject to the family's approval.

The Bibas family is known from the enormous tragedy that befell them when the family was kidnapped from their home in Nir Oz, and their murder in captivity shocked the entire State of Israel.

Millions of citizens prayed for the return of Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir Bibas and their return home, but to everyone's sorrow, the Bibas family members returned in coffins, to the grief of the country's citizens.

The mayor's decision to recommend naming the street after the Bibas family was made following numerous requests from many residents who wanted to commemorate the family members' memory.

"We hope that commemorating the memory of the Bibas family members will provide some comfort, however small, to the family, and remind us all of Ariel, Shiri, and Kfir Bibas, whom we will forever remember and say to our enemies: we will not forget and we will not forgive," noted Mayor Yaki Ben Chaim.

This is not the only such initiative to commemorate the Bibas family. Argentinian President Javier Milei announced two days to commemorate the murder of Kfir and Ariel Bibas.

He also reportedly supports an initiative in the Argentinian legislature to rename Palestine Street in Buenos Aires to Bibas Street. According to the Jerusalem Post, some prefer to name a park or some other public facility after the Bibas family instead.
