Another nasty move by Haaretz

Baseless accusation: Haaretz blames IDF for Bibas boys' deaths, ignoring forensic evidence

In a shocking and baseless accusation, Haaretz journalist Ori Mishgav claimed that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) were responsible for the deaths of the Bibas children, asserting that the two boys were killed during IDF airstrikes rather than by Hamas, as reported by the IDF spokesperson.

Such an inflammatory and reckless assertion contradicts forensic evidence and statements provided by officials, which confirm that Hamas murdered the children in cold blood.

Mishgav’s argument, based on what he calls "failures" in the conduct of the IDF during the war, claims that the IDF’s bombing of the area led to the deaths of the Bibas family. He went further to question why no official autopsy findings were released to dispute this claim. “From the moment the bodies were returned, without gunshot wounds, we have not heard anything official about the autopsy results,” Mishgav claimed. He went on to criticize the lack of transparency and reliance on intelligence reports for determining the cause of death and condition of the bodies, asking, “Why have intelligence materials not been used until now?”

Mishgav’s comments suggest a broader distrust of the IDF’s handling of the case, implying that the military might be involved in a cover-up. However, forensic evidence and eyewitness accounts confirm that Hamas was responsible for the deaths of the Bibas children. The two boys, aged 4 and 10 months, were brutally murdered by Hamas militants just weeks into their captivity. There is clear and documented evidence that Hamas fighters deliberately murdered the children, as part of their brutal strategy to target innocent civilians. The terrorists then went on to brutalize their bodies in an attempt to sway evidence and push claims that the boys were killed by IDF strikes, not by cold blood.

The unfounded allegations by Mishgav ignore these facts and seek to deflect blame onto the very forces working to protect Israeli civilians. His accusations are not only misleading but also deeply harmful, undermining the credibility of responsible journalism. Though this is not uncommon for news channels like Haaretz, who are known for their controversial and baseless claims.

Mishgav further compared the situation to past IDF failures, citing instances where the military allegedly attempted to cover up other deaths or mismanaged situations. He referenced the tragic death of soldier Gur Kehti in Lebanon and the killing of Ron Sherman by IDF artillery fire, suggesting a pattern of cover-ups within the military. However, these comparisons are irrelevant in the context of the Bibas children’s deaths, which have been thoroughly investigated by forensics and proven to be the result of Hamas’ cold-blooded actions.

As Israel continues to deal with the devastating aftermath of the Hamas attacks, such false claims are dangerous and undermine the truth. The IDF, despite its challenges, remains committed to uncovering the full truth behind all incidents and ensuring accountability for every loss of life, especially those caused by Hamas. Mishgav's misleading narrative only serves to confuse the public and distract from the true perpetrators of these heinous crimes.
