The IDF eliminated a Hamas terrorist by striking their vehicle with a drone today (Monday), according to Lebanese sources.

According to reporter Amit Segal, the terrorist was a significant Hamas officer.

An Israeli source confirmed that the terrorist targeted was a senior Hamas leader responsible for the organization's terrorist infrastructure in Lebanon, according to Army Radio.

The strike reportedly killed one person and wounded three.

According to agreements with the United States and Lebanon, Israel is supposed to withdraw from Lebanon entirely by tomorrow, February 18. This deadline was agreed to after Israel requested an extension of the original ceasefire deadline for withdrawal, which was set to be January 18.

Israel insisted on the extension due to what it said was the slow deployment of the Lebanese Army throughout southern Lebanon and its failure to seriously demilitarize Hezbollah in the region. A number of senior and junior Lebanese Army officers were also either caught or accused of assisting Hezbollah with IDF troop positions.

Israel also said that Hezbollah violated the ceasefire "hundreds" of times and was constantly trying to move armed men and weapons into or around the area, in contravention of both the terms of the ceasefire and UN Resolution 1701.

Israel also requested and received permission from the United States to occupy five strategic positions along the border on the Lebanese side, which would allow it to observe the border villages and make sure Hezbollah does not reestablish itself there and present a danger to Israel's own border towns, either with missiles or through terrorist raids.

The Lebanese government, from the President on down, has repeatedly insisted that Israel fully withdraw from every inch of Lebanese soil, and has not moved from that condition, regardless of any agreement between Israel and the United States.

Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem gave a speech yesterday where he also reiterated that Israel must fully withdraw from Lebanon by tomorrow, as that is the agreement. If it does not, then it will be considered an occupier of the country and treated accordingly.
