Dozens of Haredim sneak into Lebanon despite ceasefire - find out why
At least 20 Breslov Hasidim crossed the border at night before being returned to Israel. Authorities are investigating the curious border breach.

At least 20 Breslov Hasidim crossed the border into Lebanon overnight, disregarding the current ceasefire, and were returned to Israel. They entered the tomb of Rav Ashi on Mount Shinan, which is located in Lebanese territory and near the border with Israel, where they had infiltrated in the past. So far, eight of them have been detained for questioning.
Breslov Hasidim have often taken great risks to pray at the site of Joseph's tomb in Shechem. In December 2024 three Breslov Hasidim entered Shechem (Nablus) on their way to Joseph's Tomb after breaking through a military checkpoint, but after being shot by terrorists, they fled.
Also in December 2024, The IDF acknowledged that Israeli civilians managed to cross the border into Lebanon and set up tents there. This comes after the IDF had claimed that activists from the "Awaken the North" movement had not erected tents on Lebanese territory. It emerged following an investigation of the incident that the civilians did cross the Blue Line by several meters, set up tents, planted seedlings, and hung signs reading "Lebanon is Ours" along with memorial signs for fallen soldiers.
After being identified by IDF forces, they were removed from the area, as reported by Doron Kadosh.
An IDF spokesperson responded: "This is a serious incident that is under investigation. Any attempt to approach or cross the border into Lebanese territory without coordination presents a life-threatening risk and compromises the IDF's ability to operate in the area and fulfill its mission."
A military source added: "In recent weeks, several actions have been taken to block passage points in the fence, and we have clarified the protocols for approaching the border area with the soldiers operating in the area."
