The first testimonies from former hostages Sasha Tropanov, Sagi Dekel Chen, and Yair Horn have revealed the unimaginable suffering they endured while in captivity under Hamas.

Trufanov, who was held for nearly 500 days, discovered upon his release that his father had been murdered during the October 7 attack, adding a personal tragedy to the horrors he faced.

Dekel Chen and Horn both described brutal interrogations, physical torture, and inhumane conditions during their time in captivity.

The hostages were held in inhumane conditions, with Hamas insisting that some of them were soldiers, interrogating them and torturing them non-stop in order to obtain intelligence. Some of them were kept in tunnels, and the hiding places where they stayed were contaminated, with lice, bedbugs, mildew and mold.

The terrorists hit some of the hostages and they did not receive proper medical treatment. Some of the hostages will have to undergo surgeries in the coming days, due to the damage they carry from their captivity. They received almost no food, the water was salty and undrinkable. Before their release, the terrorists forced them to write letters of thanks while documenting them.

Sasha Tropanov only found out upon his release today that his father was murdered on October 7, and he was hardly exposed to the media while in captivity. However, from time to time, he was updated on the state of the war from the terrorists who held him. Throughout this period he was kept alone, learning to read and speak Arabic. He did not see Sapir and Lena during the entire period of captivity, but he heard on the radio that they had been released from captivity.
