SICKENING: What were Hamas' cynical "gifts" given to the released hostages?
Hamas gave released hostage Sagi Dekel-Chen a gold coin to mock his absence from his daughter’s birth and taunted another hostage’s mother with an hourglass.

Hamas taunted newly released Israeli-American hostage Sagi Dekel-Chen by gifting him a gold coin to “celebrate” the birth of his daughter, whom he never met while spending nearly 500 days in captivity. Meanwhile, they forced hostage Yair Horn to hold an hourglass with a photo of Israeli hostage Matan Zangauker, seemingly taunting his mother.
The cruel gestures were part of a propaganda-heavy hostage release in Khan Yunis, Gaza, earlier today (Saturday).
Dekel-Chen, a dual Israel-US citizen, was abducted from Kibbutz Nir Or during Hamas’ October 7, 2023, attack on Israel. His pregnant wife, Avital, and their two daughters hid in a safe room while he returned to defend the kibbutz. Avital, seven months pregnant at the time, later gave birth to their daughter, Shachar Mazal, in December 2023.
The father of three, with family in Connecticut, learned of his daughter’s birth only upon his release.
“I’m great, I’m great, I have a daughter,” he told Israel’s Channel 12 when asked about his condition. Dekel-Chen, the second Israeli-American released after Keith Siegel, reunited with Avital in an Israeli hospital.
Horn, 46, was handed an hourglass fixed to a green base featuring Zangauker’s image and the inscription, “Time is running out,” seemingly aimed at his mother, a key figure in efforts to return hostages. The hourglass was prominently displayed on stage during the release ceremony.
