Jenin's terrorist threshold no more!
Major: IDF plans bold move in Jenin - Permanent military outposts on the horizon
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Central Command is reportedly considering the establishment of permanent military outposts in the Jenin refugee camp. The new outposts would house a battalion specifically dedicated to operations within the camp, which will be called the "Jenin Battalion." This move is being contemplated as a long-term solution to improve security and operational effectiveness in the region.

According to i24NEWS, the soldiers stationed within this battalion would be based directly in the camp, enabling rapid deployment for military operations when necessary. The first phase of this plan, if approved, is expected to last several months, during which the IDF will assess the effectiveness of this permanent presence. The outposts could be positioned within the camp itself or along the adjacent streets, providing a strategic foothold for the military in the area.
Military sources have also suggested that this deployment may not be limited to Jenin. The IDF is reportedly considering expanding the concept of permanent outposts to additional refugee camps in northern Samaria. The idea stems from a desire to improve security control in these areas, especially after years of counterterrorism operations in Jenin.
This proposed shift comes at a time when the IDF’s ongoing Operation Wall of Iron, which has been active in the region, is drawing to a close. As part of the operation, over 210 wanted suspects have been arrested, and more than 60 terrorists have been eliminated. The IDF and the Israeli Security Agency (ISA) have also dismantled approximately 30 terror infrastructures, including buildings used by terror operatives, as well as confiscating 85 weapons. Additionally, 14 aerial strikes have been carried out, further disrupting the activities of terror groups in the region.
The proposal to establish permanent outposts in Jenin is seen by military commanders as an operational solution that could enhance the long-term security of the area by maintaining a consistent and visible military presence.
