The news was shared on Thursday after information was relayed by a recently freed hostage, providing a glimpse of hope for Kalfon's family after over 15 months of uncertainty

Kalfon was abducted from the Nova Music Festival near Re'im during the deadly Hamas assault, which saw hundreds of people killed and dozens taken hostage. He has not been included in the first phase of hostages slated for release under the ongoing ceasefire agreement, leaving his family in anguish as they continue to hold onto hope.

In recent days, other families of hostages have also received signs of life from their loved ones, further raising spirits for those still in captivity. The family of Kalfon, like many others, had been desperately waiting for any indication that he was still alive. While they did not elaborate on the nature of the information they received, the sign of life has offered them much-needed comfort amid the turmoil.

Last month, Segev's family marked his birthday, a painful reminder of the time he has spent in captivity. His mother conveyed a heartfelt message to him: “Segev, this is Mom, today’s your second birthday in captivity. I want you to promise me that you're tough in soul and body and you know how to protect yourself. Trust that everyone here on the outside is doing everything to free you and it will happen in the coming weeks.”

She further stated: “Don't give up, you're getting out. On this birthday, I wish you that you come out to us. Everyone's waiting to hug you - Dad, Raz, Rotem, Talia, and all the friends, and it will happen very soon. Mother's promise. Trust G-d. The angels are protecting you every moment and every minute, believe it and it will happen. We love you and are dying to see and hug you.”

Segev Kalfon, the middle child of his family, was last in contact with his relatives at 8:04 AM on October 7, the morning of his abduction. Despite attempts to flee when the terrorists launched their attack on the Supernova Desert Rave, Kalfon was captured after crossing Highway 232.

Before his kidnapping, Kalfon was passionate about attending music festivals and raves. He was a familiar face in the music community and worked at his family's bakery in Dimona. Recently, he had shifted his focus to learning about the stock market, aiming to build a future beyond his humble beginnings. His family describes him as a warm-hearted person who always prioritized the happiness of others, a brother and friend whose presence was felt deeply by all who knew him.

His family’s hope has been reignited with the recent sign of life, as they continue to await his release. As part of the current deal, the families of several hostages who remain in captivity have received signs of life from their loved ones. Among others, the family of Eitan Mor announced on Wednesday that they received a sign of life from him. Additionally, Anat Angrest, the mother of abducted IDF soldier Matan Angrest, announced that she had received testimony that her son is alive, enduring brutal interrogations, and being held in harsh conditions due to his status as a soldier.

As the family waits for further updates, they continue to hold onto the belief that Segev’s safe return is on the horizon, bolstered by the recent sign of life that has sparked renewed hope for his release.
