UAE Ambassador Calls US Approach to Gaza "Difficult" but Necessary for Solution
Exposed: UAE Ambassador breaks silence on US Gaza strategy - What He Said Will Stun You
The United Arab Emirates' ambassador to the United States, Yousef Al Otaiba, expressed concerns over the U.S. approach to Gaza, describing it as "difficult." Speaking during the World Government Summit in Dubai on February 12, Otaiba acknowledged the challenges but emphasized that finding a solution is crucial.

"We're all in a solution-seeking business, we just don’t know where it’s going to land yet," he said, highlighting the complexities of the ongoing situation.
Otaiba was asked about the controversial U.S. plan for Gaza, which former President Donald Trump outlined as a proposal to take over the war-ravaged territory and develop it economically, following the resettlement of Palestinians elsewhere. Trump’s plan, which involved a drastic shift from long-standing U.S. policy, was seen as a potential game-changer in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but it has sparked widespread rejection from the Middle East, Europe, and human rights organizations.
Despite the differences between the UAE and the U.S. on Gaza, Otaiba stated that the UAE would still attempt to find common ground with Washington. "We are agile, we make our voices heard and we are very outspoken and unapologetic about this," he said. "Sometimes our friends listen to us, sometimes they don’t, but we always strive to find common ground." He further stressed that disagreements should not stop dialogue, reflecting the UAE's commitment to maintaining open communication even when positions differ.
Meanwhile, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan reaffirmed his country's stance on peace efforts, stressing the importance of a two-state solution for the Israel-Palestinian conflict. The UAE, one of the few Arab nations to normalize relations with Israel, categorically rejected any plans to displace Palestinians, emphasizing their "inalienable rights."
