Snowfall Signals Reopening for Israel's peak mountain
Good News: Mount Hermon reports heavy snowfall and prepares to open for visitors after long hiatus
Mount Hermon, Israel's premier ski resort, is finally seeing some much-needed good news as heavy snow began falling at the site in the past hour. After intermittent snowfall since this morning, the snow is expected to continue through the night and into tomorrow, offering a promising outlook for the coming days.

At present, the temperature at the lower levels of the mountain is -1°C, with snow accumulating to a depth of approximately 20 cm at the lower level and over 50 cm at the upper level. This marks a welcome change for the site, which has been closed for visitors due to damage sustained during the war, leaving locals and visitors eager for the return of the beautiful winter landscape.
Rafael Nove, the CEO of Mount Hermon, and Miki Inbar, the Vice President of Marketing, are both excited by the snowfall and are awaiting official approval to open the site for visitors. “It is already known that this year, unfortunately, due to the war damage, the site will open only for visitors and not for skiing,” said Nove. He went on to highlight the significance of the moment, noting that after two challenging seasons and such a complex period, the snowfall is a welcome and encouraging development.
Though the mountain will not yet be open for skiing, the re-opening for visitors is a hopeful sign for the future. After a year and a half of setbacks, this moment brings much-needed optimism to the site and the surrounding region. For now, visitors can look forward to enjoying the beautiful snow-covered landscapes of Mount Hermon, and the team is hopeful for a full recovery in the seasons to come.
