Following Trump's presentation last week of his "day after" plans for Gaza - which includes relocating residents to countries neighboring Israel, sources in the Prime Minister's Office recently approached former minister Ben Gvir, requesting his return to the government.

According to a report published today (Tuesday) by journalist Yaara Shapira on Kan News, there was a dialogue between Prime Minister Netanyahu and Minister Ben Gvir, with Netanyahu telling Ben Gvir: "The time is ripe for your return to the government in light of Trump's plan." Ben Gvir replied: "You'll be tested by the response on Saturday. If we return to fighting, I'm with you."

It was also reported that Netanyahu's need for Ben Gvir's return to the government stems partly from Netanyahu's need to pass legislation establishing an investigation committee not headed by a judge. For this, he would need Jewish Power party's votes due to concerns about Saar and his allies not supporting the law being advanced by the coalition.

Last week, journalist Amir Ettinger reported that Ben Gvir was very determined to return to the government and even conveyed a message to Netanyahu that he would be interested in returning if Netanyahu "takes action," in his words.

The following day, Ettinger wrote on his X account: "Ben Gvir is threatening me and sent a pre-lawsuit notice for 150,000 shekels for reporting yesterday about his message to the PM that he's ready to return to the government soon. Ben Gvir was pressured by the critical framing that wrote he is 'crawling back to the government' and 'making a U-turn'."

He continued: "In his warning letter, Ben Gvir doesn't deny the message about wanting to return but says it wasn't without conditions as implied and that we are 'anti-Ben Gvir' and that we're spreading slander as if he has no principles and resigned just for show."
