The IDF said that its forces in Judea and Samaria, where many and sometimes most of the terrorists are being released, are bracing for the impact of the release of so many terrorists, some of them with life sentences for murder:

"The Judea and Samaria Division forces are preparing for the release of militants as part of Operation 'Wings of Freedom'. In recent days, conversations were held in cooperation with the Shin Bet with the families of the prisoners being released, and preliminary tours were conducted to remove Hamas flags and readiness markers in the area.

"The Etzion Regional Brigade forces made preparations for the expected celebrations, during which they held talks in Dheisheh in the Bethlehem area and clarified the prohibition regarding celebrations.

"The Civil Administration prepared at the military coordination and liaison headquarters, and messages were conveyed prohibiting celebrations and processions supporting terrorism during the release of the militants.

"The Central Command forces, Judea and Samaria Division, and Civil Administration, in cooperation with security forces, will continue to act intensively against any disorder and gatherings related to the release of militants and support of terrorism."

When explaining why he opposes the hostage deal despite rejoicing at the release of any and all hostages, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said that he represents a constituency - the half a million Israeli settlers living in Judea and Samaria - which would be the first to pay the price for any of the terrorists returning to terrorism in the area.

Gal Hirsch, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Coordinator for the Hostages and the Missing, said that "the State of Israel views with grave concern the repeated violations of Hamas, and with even greater concern the condition of the three hostages released this morning."
