While the ceasefire agreement and the release of hostages with Gaza and Hamas are underway, Arab media reported this morning that Israel is on the way to a hostage deal with the terrorist organization Hezbollah as well, in which the kidnapped Elizabeth Tsurkov will be released in exchange for the release of Hezbollah operatives captured by Israel during IDF operations in Lebanon.

According to the report, as presented by Kan News, among the Hezbollah operatives to be released is Imad Ahamaz, who served as a senior member of the terrorist organization's naval force – and was captured by IDF forces in a special operation by Shayetet 13 about three months ago.

The Iraqi Foreign Minister, Fuad Hussein, revealed last week that the Israeli researcher Elizabeth Tsurkov, who was kidnapped two years ago and is being held by an Iraqi militia, is still alive. In an interview with Axios, Hussein said that the Prime Minister in Baghdad, Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani, is working to secure her release.

In July 2023, the Prime Minister's Office permitted the publication of the news regarding Tsourkov's abduction, who had been missing for several months prior. In a statement released by the Prime Minister's Office at that time, it was said: "We hold Iraq responsible for her fate and well-being. She is an academic who visited Iraq using her Russian passport, and on her own initiative for the purpose of her doctoral work and academic research on behalf of Princeton University in the USA."

It was also reported that the incident is being handled by the relevant authorities in the State of Israel, with concern for the safety and well-being of Elizabeth Tsourkov. Tsourkov's abduction has been reported by several media outlets around the world, and according to reports, the researcher was kidnapped from her residence in Baghdad on March 26.
