Former U.S. President Donald Trump remains adamant that Jordan and Egypt will accept a proposal to resettle Palestinians within their borders rather than in a reconstructed Gaza - despite outright refusals from both nations.

“They will do it. They will do it. They’re gonna do it, okay? We do a lot for them, and they’re gonna do it,” Trump declared during an Oval Office photo op when pressed on the matter.

His remarks come in direct contradiction to statements from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi and Jordan’s King Abdullah, both of whom firmly rejected the idea.

“Regarding what is being said about the displacement of Palestinians, it can never be tolerated or allowed because of its impact on Egyptian national security,” el-Sissi stated.

Trump previously said the issue would be a topic of discussion when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visits Washington next week.
