Otzma Yehudit Chairman MK Itamar Ben-Gvir, who resigned over the current hostage deal signed with Hamas, expressed his anger and sadness at the fact that prisoners with blood on their hands were being released today (Thursday).

Ben-Gvir stated: "The release of terrorist Rashid Rashek, who planned to assassinate me and carry out more attacks in the Old City of Jerusalem, together with the disturbing list of terrorists who were released alongside him as part of the shameful deal – including the murderer from Jenin, Zakaria Zubeidi, who returns to the center of terror, and Atallah, the rapist who is released a driving distance from the prison guard Shans, along with a long list of murderers and rapists – is a certificate of surrender and a reckless agreement."

As part of the operation to thwart terrorism in northern Samaria, IDF, Shin Bet and Border Police forces operated overnight in Qalqilya in the Ephraim Brigade and demolished the home of terrorist Jamal Abu Haniya.

On June 22, 2024, the terrorist, together with other terrorists, carried out a terrorist attack in the city of Qalqiliya, in which the late Amnon Mukhtar was murdered.

Before the hostage deal was signed, the then National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir called on Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich to join forces to express strong opposition to the hostage deal and block it altogether.

At the time Ben-Gvir stated: "The deal that is taking shape is a deal of surrender to Hamas."
