The story of Gadi Mozes, hostage to be released: "A captivating personality and the first to reach out and help"
Mozes, one of the founders of Kibbutz Nir Oz and father of three and grandfather of ten, was kidnapped from his home and his partner Efrat Katz was murdered.


Among the eight hostages, including three Israeli citizens and five Thai nationals, set to be released today (Thursday) from Hamas captivity is 80-year-old Gadi Mozes.
Gadi Mozes, 80, was kidnapped from his home in Kibbutz Nir Oz and his wife Efrat Katz was murdered by the terrorists. Efrat's daughter, Doron Katz-Asher, and her two daughters, Aviv and Raz, were kidnapped to Gaza and released as part of the first kidnapping deal in November 2023 together with his ex-partner, Margalit Mozes.
About two months after the massacre, Hamas released a video of Gadi appearing next to the kidnapped Elad Katzir, who was murdered in captivity and whose body was rescued from Khan Yunis.
Gadi, one of the founders of Kibbutz Nir Oz, contributed a lot to agriculture in the area. He is the father of three children and the grandfather of ten grandchildren. He is like a grandfather to Efrat's grandchildren and her family is waiting for him to return. His family says he is "a smiling and kind-hearted man, a captivating personality and the first to embrace and help anyone."
As an internationally renowned agronomist, Gadi Mozes has expertise in wastewater management and field crops. He also worked as a peace activist, helping to advocate for Palestinian rights and peace.
Gadi is a lover of nature. Over the years, he has guided and promoted third world countries through his vast knowledge. After he retired, he established a community vegetable garden. And as a wine lover, he grew grapes as a hobby. The family tells of a warm, loving and embracing family man. A beloved father and grandfather, an investor and a supporter.
