Israeli security forces arrested over 20 Palestinians on Tuesday evening for celebrating the release of Hamas terrorists by Israel three days prior, according to the Israel Defense Forces and Israel Police.

During raids in Samaria, Israeli security forces, including the IDF, police, and the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), arrested nine suspects “who participated in celebrations for the release of terrorists and demonstrations in support of Hamas,” according to the military.

These arrests took place in the Kafr Aqab neighborhood of eastern Jerusalem and in the Palestinian village of Al-Ram, just outside the city's municipal borders.

In a separate operation, the Israel Police detained another 12 suspects who had participated in a pro-terrorism demonstration in Kafr Aqab on Saturday night.

According to police, the suspects were filmed taking part in a demonstration where they expressed joy, waved Hamas flags, and fired weapons into the air. During searches of the area, authorities seized Hamas flags, posters, fireworks, and large sums of money.

The arrests followed the circulation of footage showing a rally celebrating the release of Ashraf Zughayer, a Hamas terrorist convicted in 2002 for his role in transporting suicide bombers to their attacks.

In line with the Israel-Hamas ceasefire, Israel had released 200 terrorists on Saturday, including 50 for each captured soldier, as part of the deal. This included 109 terrorists sent back to Judea and Samaria, 21 to Gaza, and around 70 deported to Egypt with plans to move to other countries, as per the terms of the January 19 agreement.
