Lebanon reported this morning (Wednesday) that the Lebanese army has taken control of the huge Hezbollah tunnel complex that was exposed during the current war.
The Imad 4 facility, which was allegedly used by Hezbollah to launch missiles, was exposed in footage distributed by the terror organization over the summer, but so far there has been no confirmation of this.
Footage posted on social media in Lebanon shows Lebanese army soldiers moving through the underground compound in the Tyre district. According to a report on the Al-Jadeed channel, the Lebanese army took control of the facility more than a week ago.
Al-Hadath TV reported that before the Lebanese army entered the compound, the site was evacuated from "heavy equipment."
The Lebanese army and Hezbollah did not comment on the documentation, and it is still unclear whether this was indeed a takeover of the compound by the Lebanese army in an attempt to enforce the ceasefire, or whether it was cooperation between the Lebanese army and Hezbollah.
The British newspaper The Times reported yesterday that a senior Lebanese army official had passed classified information to Hezbollah during the ceasefire. According to the report, the head of military intelligence in southern Lebanon, Suhail Bahij Ghareb, passed sensitive information from the joint security control room with the United States, France and the United Nations UNIFIL force.
