US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdalati about the latest developments in the Gaza Strip. Rubio stressed the importance of demanding responsibility from Hamas for its actions. According to him, it must be ensured that Hamas will not be able to regain control of Gaza or pose an additional threat to Israel.
He also noted that close cooperation between the countries should continue in order to formulate an orderly plan for the day after the war. During the conversation, Rubio thanked Egypt for the mediation efforts made to free the hostages and achieve a ceasefire, as well as for the continued humanitarian aid provided to the population in Gaza.
Rubio spoke last week with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and stressed that maintaining the United States' strong support for Israel is a top priority for incoming President Donald Trump.
During the conversation between the two, Rubio congratulated Netanyahu on Israel's achievements in the struggle against Hamas and Hezbollah, and noted the administration's commitment to working tirelessly to release all the hostages who remain held captive in the Gaza Strip.
