Bereaved father Avraham Wiseman, whose son was murdered in a terror attack, has appealed to the Ministry of Justice requesting that his son's murderers included in the hostage deal be released to Gaza and not abroad.
Avraham Wiseman, whose son Yanai was murdered in a terror attack in Benjamin in 2016 and whose killers are expected to be released as part of the hostage deal, sent a letter to the Ministry of Justice through Attorney Chaim Bleicher from the Honenu organization, requesting that his son's murderers be released to Gaza rather than abroad to prevent glorifying their names and prevent them from receiving economic benefits.
In his letter, Avraham describes how Yanai Wiseman fought bravely against the terrorists: "Three terrorists entered the Rami Levy supermarket in Sha'ar Benjamin with knives intending to murder as many Jews as possible. One terrorist was removed from the premises by a security guard before he could carry out his plans. The other two terrorists began their planned killing spree. The terrorists began stabbing a Jew they encountered, and Yanai, who noticed this, left his wife and young daughter Neta, who was 4 months old, and charged toward the terrorists with bare hands to prevent them from continuing their killing spree. Yanai managed to stop one of the terrorists, but the second terrorist stabbed Yanai, leading to his death."
The letter describes Yanai's father's struggle to convict his son's murderers: "Yanai's father attended all the military court hearings demanding to prevent the terrorists and deter their friends from continuing terror campaigns against our country's citizens. After a persistent struggle in military court and following a long journey due to my client's insistence, the two terrorists received prison sentences despite being minors at the time of their killing spree. Unfortunately, both of Yanai's murderers are included in the list of terrorists being released in the hostage deal. Because the terrorists were charged with murder and sentenced to life imprisonment, they are designated for deportation from the country either abroad or to Gaza."
Bleicher: "In other countries, the terrorists will receive embracing treatment"
Bleicher emphasizes in his letter the importance of deporting the terrorists specifically to Gaza where the IDF can target them in the future: "Unfortunately, both of Yanai's murderers are included in the list of terrorists being released in the hostage deal. Because the terrorists were charged with murder and sentenced to life imprisonment, they are designated for deportation from the country either abroad or to Gaza."
"My client approached through the Ministry of Justice website on behalf of the family with a small request – if the terrorists are to be released, they should be released to Gaza and not to another country. The reasons for the request are concerns that in other countries, the terrorists will receive embracing treatment and special status for their despicable acts. On the other hand, in Gaza, the terrorists will not receive special benefits due to its economic situation, and additionally, there is hope that Gaza terrorists will again feel the strength of the State of Israel."
"My client's son gave his young life for the country, and his family is absorbing a second blow with the release of these abhorrent murderers. The state is expected to be attentive to their appeal and make the minimal effort to fulfill their request. I appeal again with the demand to ensure that Yanai Wiseman's murderers (may God avenge his blood) be deported specifically to Gaza," wrote Bleicher.
