An indictment was filed against a resident of Beit She'an, following the assault of a fellow worshipper during prayers. The attack occurred following an argument that developed between them over the volume of the worshipper's voice. According to the indictment, the defendant strangled his friend until he collapsed and was injured.
According to the prosecutors' statement, on January 15, 2025, at approximately 9:00 P.M., the defendant and the complainant prayed the evening prayer at a kollel in the city of Beit She'an. During the prayer, the defendant became angry with the complainant after he prayed aloud and an argument ensued between the two.
During the argument, the defendant strangled the complainant by the neck until he collapsed on the floor and was injured by an iron that was lying there.
After receiving the complaint, the suspect, a 37-year-old resident of the city of Beit She'an, was arrested, and at the end of his interrogation by the Northern District Police, an indictment was filed against him through the Nazareth Prosecutions Branch in the Nazareth Magistrate's Court.
A police spokesperson said: "The Israel Police shows zero tolerance for bullying and violence of any kind directed against civilians and acts quickly and decisively against all manifestations of violence in order to bring those perpetrators to justice."
