Unknown perpetrators broke into the Uri Tzafon synagogue in Bat Yam, Israel overnight Sunday, vandalizing sacred Torah scrolls in what local community members are calling a devastating act of desecration.
The intruders attempted to breach the synagogue's Torah safe and, upon failing, resorted to breaking the lock. In an act of profound disrespect, they removed the sacred parchments from their housings and threw them onto the floor. The perpetrators also made off with charity boxes and valuable equipment from the premises.
This incident has sent shockwaves through the local Jewish community.
Local police have launched an investigation into the break-in. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact authorities.
