Israel Katz concludes chief of staff interviews, pushing for aggressive military strategy

"We need someone ready to lead an all-out offensive," says the Defense Minister.

Defense Minister Israel Katz held a round of interviews today (Sunday) with the candidates for the position of the next Chief of Staff of the IDF: Deputy Chief of Staff, Maj. Gen. Amir Baram; Director General of the Ministry of Defense, Maj. Gen. (res.) Eyal Zamir; And General Tamir Yadai.

The Minister of Defense made it clear to the candidates that in his view, the role of the next Chief of Staff of the IDF is first and foremost to lead an offensive policy of defeating the enemy in all sectors in order to ensure the security of the State of Israel and change the regional reality, and that the victories on the battlefield, which were achieved thanks to the bravery of the fighters, must be turned into reality-changing achievements.

The Minister of Defense emphasized the commitment to strengthening the IDF, to deal effectively with the current challenges, and to implement the lessons learned from the events of October 7.

The decision on the identity of the next Chief of Staff will be made by the Minister of Defense as soon as possible, in coordination with the Prime Minister, and will be submitted for approval by the Advisory Committee for the Appointment of Senior Civil Service Officials.

It is important to quickly appoint a new chief of staff who can lead the IDF to achievements in order to realize its victories and achievements.
