This is the story of how released hostage Liri Elbag and her boyfriend supported each other in dark times, both related to terrorism.

Each of the four hostages released today has their own unique story, but Liri Albag's is particularly heartwarming - a story of mutual devotion, sacrifice, and commitment.

According to Ynet, Albag was a high school senior touring the United States with two of her friends, when she heard that her boyfriend, soldier Nir Alboro, was wounded in a ramming attack in 2023 in the Hebron area. The vehicle use by the terrorist slammed into both his legs, leaving him helpless and on the ground - unable to even use his phone.

Alboro was in serious and at times critical condition, and had to be operated on twice for long hours. Albag spent this time waiting on him with his family in the hospital hoping for his recovery.

She told him when he was ready that "everything is alright, we'll make it through together." When asked to explain Albag's devotion to him over such a traumatic incident, he said:

"We have a great love. I would do the same thing for her. We are a couple who cares about one another, and cares about others. Our friends also always said of us that we're a unique, mature couple. Even when things were not as good for us, we became stronger from every fall. We knew we have something special between us and that we're not giving it up."

Liri did a tattoo saying "faith" on her arm to show how much she believed in Nir despite his having to undergo several surgeries to rebuild his shattered lower body.

Nir was set to visit her on October 7, when the Hamas attack, including thousands of trained and armed fighters, hit the western Negev - including the Nachal Oz outpost where she was stationed.

Liri tried to calm him, saying that she was in one of the protected rooms during the attack, and telling him to "breathe" so his trauma from his own attack would not return.

Once it was officially confirmed that Liri was a hostage, Nir did his own "faith" tattoo to symbolize his own belief that she would make it.

The faith of both has now been confirmed.
