In light of the report that Israel has relinquished control over the Rafah crossing – to be managed by the Palestinian Authority under UN supervision – security officials warn of a quadruple danger in the loss of Israeli control over the Strip: the introduction of weapons, the entry of terrorist operatives from Sinai into Gaza, the smuggling of hostages out of the Strip, and the escape of leaders who will become "symbols of heroism." This was reported today (Wednesday) in Israel Hayom.
Despite Prime Minister Netanyahu's repeated promises, it turns out that Israel has relinquished control of the Rafah crossing during the ceasefire.
We remind you that despite the ceasefire that came into effect last Sunday, on Monday, the IDF was already forced to conduct a deterrent fire at the Rafah crossing, following an attempt by Hamas militants to take control of it.
Additionally, the IDF Spokesperson in Arabic, Colonel Avichai Adraee, published guidelines for the Palestinian residents of Gaza.
In a statement to the residents of Gaza, Adrai said: "This is an urgent announcement to the residents of the Gaza envelope regarding the ceasefire coming into effect at 08:30 in the morning. Based on the agreement, IDF forces remain deployed in specific areas of the Gaza Strip. Do not approach IDF forces in the area until further notice. Approaching the forces exposes you to danger."
According to him: "Movement from south to north in the Gaza Strip or towards the Nitzarim road remains dangerous due to IDF activity in the area. Once this movement is allowed, a declaration and guidelines regarding safe transportation methods will be provided. We warn residents against approaching IDF forces in general and the Nitzarim axis in particular. In the southern Gaza Strip, it is dangerous to approach the Rafah crossing area, the Philadelphia axis area, and all areas where forces are concentrated."
The IDF spokesperson in Arabic continued and noted that "in the maritime area along the strip, there is a great danger for fishing, swimming, and diving, and we warn against entering the sea in the coming days. In the maritime area along the strip, there is a great danger for fishing, swimming, and diving, and we warn against entering the sea in the coming days."
We urge you not to head towards the buffer zone or towards IDF forces for your safety. At this stage, heading towards the buffer zone or crossing from south to north through the Gaza Strip exposes you to danger. Anyone heading towards these areas is exposing themselves to danger.
