WATCH: He borrowed his friend's cap – and saved his own life during Tel Aviv terror attack

Security footage circulating from this week's terror attack captured an unplanned moment - a man borrowing and reversing his friend's hat just before violence erupted. The coincidental timing preceded what could have been a very different outcome.

The cap that saved his life

A Moroccan national with U.S. permanent residency launched a stabbing attack in central Tel Aviv, injuring five people before being shot by security forces.

Security footage shows the suspect, Abdelaziz Kaddi, dining at a local pizzeria moments before he launched a shocking terror attack across Nahalat Binyamin and Kalisher streets.

The the attacker went on to stab Israelis, leaving one victim seriously wounded and four others with moderate to light injuries.

In the footage above, you can see a man borrowing his friend's baseball cap and putting it on himself, seconds before the attack. Miraculously, this move likely saved his life, as the attack unfolded seconds later with the attacker slicing through the baseball cap with a knife.

Among those injured was Captain A., an IDF Armored Corps officer who had previously lost his right hand fighting in Gaza. He intervened when the attacker targeted his friends.

Questions have emerged about the suspect's entry into Israel. Interior Minister Moshe Arbel confirmed that immigration authorities flagged Kaddi at Ben Gurion Airport. He was transferred to the Shin Bet for further questioning, but they decided to admit him anywhere, despite the fact that his social media was filled with Pro-Gaza posts.

The attack ended when an off-duty border police officer neutralized the suspect. All victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
