Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei attacked U.S. President Donald Trump today (Wednesday), during a meeting with leaders in the private sector, claiming that Trump was delusional in calling Iran weak, as reported by Al-Arabiya.

In an indirect allusion to Trump, Khamenei said: "That delusional dreamer announced that Iran has weakened... The future will show who is really weak."

He added: "Saddam Hussein also thought in the past that Tehran was weakened, and then the aggression began," he noted, giving another example, "Ronald Reagan also thought that our country was weak, so he helped Saddam."

According to Khamenei, "These and dozens of delusional people have met their fate, while the Iranian regime continues to grow day by day." He concluded by emphasizing that this experience will repeat itself again, in reference to the Trump era.

In addition to Khamenei, former Revolutionary Guards commander Mohsen Rezai also warned the United States, saying, "We are strong and Trump cannot lie."

It should be noted that Iran is in one of its worst economic situations. The economy is crashing, the currency is plummeting – and yet the funding of terrorist organizations in the Middle East continues. Recently, apparently due to the fear of the Trump administration entering the White House, Iran has begun to change its approach, and several Iranian officials have expressed willingness to negotiate with the Trump administration in order to lift the sanctions it is expected to impose on the country.

Two days ago, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei confirmed that his country hopes that the new US administration will adopt a "realistic" approach to Tehran. Earlier this month, Iranian President Masoud Pazakhian also expressed his willingness to engage in dialogue with the Trump administration-elect regarding Iran's nuclear program.
