Two Jewish youths were injured this afternoon (Wednesday) as a result of an attack by Arabs who were accompanied by left-wing anarchist activists in the Hebron Hills.
As a result of the attack, a 15-year-old boy sustained moderate head injuries and was taken to hospital, while another was treated at the scene with minor injuries.
The youths were attacked while grazing sheep near the settlement of Susya when a group of about 15 Arab rioters attacked them with stones and clubs. Together with the rioters were a number of extreme left-wing activists.
Eliram Azoulay, head of the Hebron Hills Regional Council, responded: "This is a serious incident that is part of a regular pattern of action that has been increasing in recent times when Arabs attack Jewish shepherds in various locations in the Hebron Hills, at the same time that anarchists from the extreme left come to incite the area. The incident took place just after a Border Police force left the scene. It is inconceivable that Jewish youths would be violently attacked near their homes."
"I demand that the security forces bring the rioters to justice, act harshly and remove from the area the anarchists from the extreme left who are stirring up the area, and increase the alert during these tense days in the areas between the communities as well. I am sending full medical care to the wounded, and the council's teams are accompanying them now," he said.
