In an interview with Fox News today (Tuesday), President-elect Donald Trump's appointee as Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, unequivocally rejected the notion of a two-state solution.
When asked whether he or President Donald Trump believe that the two-state solution is the future, Huckabee responded: "No, I think we have to recognize, there was a Palestinian state, it was called Gaza. Look how that turned out!
He went on to explain: "You can't have a Palestinian state on top of an Israeli state, if the Palestinians continue to believe that Israel shouldn't exist. Because the Palestinians don't believe in a two-state solution, they believe in a one-state solution, and Israel disappears. That's no solution whatsoever. Israel has a right to its autonomous, indiginous homeland that they've had for 3500 years since the days of Abraham."
Last week Samaria Council head Yossi Dagan met today (Monday) with Mike Huckabee. Dagan said he had known Huckabee for many years and hosted him on tours in Samaria, the peak of which was a visit by the now designated ambassador to the Tomb of Joseph, a visit which received worldwide media attention. Dagan also toured many settlements and outposts in Samaria with Huckabee over the years.
Huckabee said on that occassion that he "looked forward to coming once again to Judea and Samaria...it's the land that God gave, and it's a blessing to be a part of this land."
