Since the deal was signed between Israel and Hamas, the Israeli government has been careful not to mention Qatar's role or to thank it for its mediation efforts.

Qatar, a country with which Israel does not maintain diplomatic relations, is perceived by Israel as a financier of Hamas terrorism and an ally of the Muslim Brotherhood, which wants to destroy the Jewish state.

President Isaac Herzog's office sent a statement to the media today (Tuesday) in which he recounted a meeting he held in Davos with the Qatari prime minister, during which he thanked him for brokering the deal.

It reads: "President Isaac Herzog met with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed al-Thani on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum conference in Davos.

During their meeting, the President thanked the Prime Minister of Qatar for his important efforts to promote the hostage deal that is currently being implemented.

The Qatari prime minister stressed his commitment to carrying out all stages of the deal. The President of the State of Israel shared with the Prime Minister of Qatar the excitement that gripped the entire State of Israel, with the release of the three abducted women, Romi, Doron and Emily, at the beginning of the week.

The President also emphasized the deep pain and grief that Israeli society has undergone, especially the families of the fallen, murdered and abducted since the October 7 massacre, as well as the State of Israel's commitment to the return of all abducted and abducted to the last of them, and the human and basic need to bring healing and healing to the families of the abductees," the statement said.

It is not clear whether this is an Israeli rapprochement with the Gulf state, but it may indicate a change in Israel's attitude toward the country that has become a mediator with the Hamas devil.
