Following the lead of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who released a video statement congratulating President Trump today (Monday) for being inaugurated as President for a second time, multiple Israeli leaders also posted congratulations on X.
First up was President Isaac Herzog, who posted this statement:
"On behalf of the people of Israel, I send my heartfelt congratulations to you, President Donald Trump on your inauguration as the 47th POTUS.
"You are a true friend of Israel. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to Israel’s security and to building a better future for our region. A special thank you for your commitment to bringing all our hostages home. We wish you and your administration great success in your service to the American people. Good luck!"
Opposition Yair Lapid also posted his congratulations, saying:
"Good luck President Trump, a great leader and a great friend to Israel. We know you are the one who can bring home all the hostages."
Benny Gantz, State Camp party leader and expected leader of the anti-Netanyahu bloc next election, posted a particularly detailed welcome for the new President:
"President Donald Trump,
Your groundbreaking vision, unequivocal support for Israel, and your unique ability to achieve the impossible will surely usher in a new era of security and peace through strength in the Middle East.
Under your leadership, I’m confident the Israeli-US alliance will be elevated to new heights, and a moderate Middle Eastern axis will be formed against the Iranian terror regime and its proxies.
Wishing you great success during your tenure - and may god bless you Mr. President, bless the Israel-US relationship and bless the great United States of America."
MK Avigdor Liberman, leader of the opposition Yisrael Beytenu party and a hawk, posted the following:
"Congratulations to Donald Trump on being sworn in as the 47th President of the United States. I am confident that the Israel-US relationship will continue to flourish and grow even stronger under your leadership. Best of luck!"
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar posted the following congratulatory message:
"Congratulations Donald Trump on your inauguration as President of the United States of America. America is Israel's greatest friend and ally and during your first term you were Israel's greatest friend. We are grateful for your efforts that helped secure the initial release of our hostages. I’m sure that the special Israel-US alliance will reach new heights during your second term."
Finally, Defense Minister Israel Katz posted his congratulations and laid out his own priorities in working with the new administration:
"Congratulations to the 47th President of the United States Donald Trump. The bond between Israel and the United States is unbreakable, rooted in shared values and mutual interests. We appreciate the support and commitment of the US for Israel. I look forward to working with your administration to strengthen this alliance, bring back all the hostages held in Gaza, and prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons."
