Three Israeli women - Romi Gonen, Emily Damari, and Doron Steinbrecher - have been released today after 471 days in Hamas captivity, an unfothamable miracle many of us never thought would happen.

An atmosphere of wonder and excitement is palpable in the air in Israel, as we wait for more footage from our beloved hostages.

The women were captured during Hamas's brutal assault on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, when terrorists infiltrated Israeli communities, killing approximately 1,200 people and taking 253 hostages into Gaza. The attack, which began in the early morning hours of a Saturday, targeted civilians at music festivals, in their homes, and on military bases.

Today's release unfolded in central Gaza City, where the three women were seen walking unaided as they were transferred to Red Cross officials.

Their release comes after months of complex negotiations involving international mediators. During their 471 days of captivity, their families have led persistent campaigns for their return, joining other hostage families in what became one of the largest grassroots movements in Israeli history.

The release represents both hope and heartbreak for the families of those still held captive in Gaza. According to Israeli officials, dozens of hostages remain in Hamas custody, including men and women, young and elderly.

As these three women make their way back to Israeli territory, they face a long journey of recovery from their ordeal. Medical teams and support staff are standing by to provide immediate care and assistance as they reunite with their families after more than 15 months of living in sheer hell.
