The Israel Defense Forces announced Saturday evening it has completed all preparations for receiving the first group of hostages expected to be released from Gaza under the new exchange deal.
The military's Manpower Directorate and Medical Corps have established specialized reception facilities and protocols in coordination with Israel's Ministry of Health and other security organizations, according to an IDF spokesperson.
"We have created a comprehensive system to ensure the returning hostages receive immediate medical attention and personal support from the moment they reach Israeli territory," said Major General Dado Bar Califa, head of the IDF's Manpower Directorate, who personally oversaw preparations at receiving hospitals.
The carefully planned reception process includes:
- Initial processing at specially equipped reception points near the Gaza border
- Immediate medical screening and care
- Personal support staff assigned to each returnee
- Controlled transport to designated hospitals
- Private facilities for family reunions
Major General (ret.) Lior Carmeli, who heads the military's Hostages and POWs Directorate, emphasized that the process has been designed to prioritize both the physical and emotional wellbeing of the returnees.
The IDF has issued a public appeal for patience and discretion during the sensitive operation, urging Israelis to rely only on official announcements and avoid spreading unverified information about the returnees or their locations.
The military shared photos showing the newly established reception facilities, including medical equipment and private areas prepared for family reunifications, though specific locations are being kept confidential for security reasons.
This announcement comes as Israel awaits Hamas's list of the first three female hostages scheduled for release under the deal, marking the first phase of what is hoped to be a larger exchange agreement.
