Hostage deal still up in the air

Political source: "Until everything is fully agreed upon, the cabinet will not convene."

Despite Aryeh Deri's announcement of final approval for the hostage deal, a political figure said that the cabinet and government would not convene to approve the agreement until all details of the deal are fully finalized.

Another delay? Despite Aryeh Deri's announcement of final approval for the hostage deal and reports of the cabinet convening tomorrow (Friday), a political source said this evening that the cabinet and government will not convene to approve the agreement until all details of the deal are finalized.

"The Prime Minister, Netanyahu, firmly insists on finalizing all the details of the agreement before bringing it to the cabinet and government for approval," it was said. "He has firmly opposed Hamas's demand to change the deployment of our forces along the Philadelphi route, and he stands firmly against other Hamas demands today that deviate from the understandings reached during the negotiations."

According to the source, "It seems that this insistence is bearing fruit, but until everything is fully agreed upon, Prime Minister Netanyahu will not convene the cabinet and the government."

As mentioned, the announcement from the political source comes after Shas chairman Aryeh Deri said at the party conference in Jerusalem that "I received a final message a few minutes ago that all the obstacles have been overcome and the deal is underway. Now they are busy with the final technical wording. I want to congratulate Prime Minister Netanyahu, he is responsible for the agreement."

We remind you that in the morning hours, Netanyahu announced that Hamas is retracting its agreements and raising new last-minute demands. As a result, the cabinet and government meetings will not be scheduled until the mediators announce that Hamas has approved all the details of the agreement. Earlier today, it was reported that the main clause on which Hamas insists is related to the identity of the terrorists to be released – including prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment.
