Creating a rebellion in the Government, typical Ben Gvir

Minister Itamar Ben Gvir: "If the Reckless Deal Goes Through, Otzma Yehudit Will Leave the Government"

Following his sharp threat to leave the government should a hostage deal go through, Ben Gvir continued to stir turmoil in the government. Adding, "I also call on members of the Religious Zionism Party and the ideological members of Likud to act similarly, and together with us, to prevent the implementation of this capitulation deal." Below is the full statement from the Chairman of Otzma Yehudit and Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir.

"The emerging deal is reckless. It involves the release of hundreds of murderous terrorists, the return of thousands of terrorists to the northern Gaza Strip, a withdrawal from the Philadelphi Corridor, and a cessation of hostilities, which would effectively erase the achievements of the war. Not only that, it does not lead to the release of all hostages, it seals the fate of those hostages not included in the deal, and it will end the war while Hamas has not been defeated, with a significant ability to rebuild itself. When we see the joyous cheers of Hamas supporter Ayman Odeh, the dancing in Gaza, and the celebrations in villages in Judea and Samaria – we understand who is the side that has given in during this deal.

Therefore, if this reckless deal is approved and implemented, Otzma Yehudit will not be part of the government and will withdraw from it.

I also call on members of the Religious Zionism Party and ideological members of Likud to act similarly, and together with us, to prevent the implementation of this capitulation deal.

We are willing to pay heavy prices for the release of the hostages. We are ready to do whatever it takes to bring about their release, as long as the price does not include one that is many times heavier. The existing deal increases Hamas’s appetite and motivation to carry out another October 7th massacre, thereby defeating Israel once again – not to mention the number of terror attacks that could spill Jewish blood, God forbid.

To secure the release of the hostages, all humanitarian aid to Gaza must be halted. Not “controlling the aid mechanisms,” not reducing it, but stopping it entirely. Stop the transfer of fuel, electricity, and water. Only in this way will Hamas release our hostages without endangering Israel’s security, alongside powerful military crushing. Only in this way can we defeat this murderous terror organization.

Therefore, even at this moment, I still call on the Prime Minister to wake up, avoid this disastrous deal, and take these steps that will lead to the defeat of Hamas and the release of our hostages without yielding to them. If he does not do this, as mentioned, Otzma Yehudit under my leadership will not bring down Netanyahu, nor will it work with the left and their goals against the government. However, we will not be part of a government that approves a deal that grants Hamas a huge prize and could bring us the disaster of the next October 7th. We will withdraw from it.

If the war against Hamas resumes forcefully to achieve the unfulfilled war goals, we will return to the government.

Thank you."
