Itamar Ben Gvir is expected to announce his resignation from the government this evening (Thursday) due to the hostage deal and the ceasefire agreement with the terrorist organization Hamas. At 9:00 PM, Ben Gvir is expected to deliver a "significant" statement to the media.

On Tuesday of this week, Ben Gvir called on Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich to threaten the Prime Minister with a joint withdrawal from the coalition. According to Ben Gvir: "The deal taking shape is a surrender deal to Hamas! I call on my friend, Minister Bezalel Smotrich, to join me and cooperate together against a surrender deal to Hamas."

Ben Gvir claimed: "Otzma Yehudit alone does not have the ability to prevent the deal," and called out to Smotrich: "I suggest we go together to the Prime Minister and inform him that if he passes the deal, we will resign from the government."

Minister Ben Gvir emphasized: "I emphasize that even if we are in the opposition, we will not bring down the Prime Minister, but this cooperation is our only way to prevent the surrender deal, to prevent the terrible deal, and to ensure that the deaths of hundreds of soldiers were not in vain."

Ben Gvir justified his position: "This is not a 'difficult choice' that needs to be made to bring back the hostages. This is a conscious choice at the cost of the lives of many other Israeli citizens, who, unfortunately, will pay with their lives for this deal. We have already seen the fruits of these deals in the past. We learned the hard way that there is no cover for all the promises that 'we'll manage later'."

According to him: "In the past year, through our political power, we have managed to prevent this deal from going through, time and again. However, since then, additional elements have joined the government, who now support the deal, and we no longer serve as the deciding factor."
