The Iranian regime tried with all its might this morning (Thursday) to portray Hamas and the Palestinian terrorist organizations as having defeated Israel in the current war, calling the ceasefire agreement expected to be signed today "a defeat for Israel."
In the shadow of the severe blows inflicted on the Islamic Republic and its allies in recent months, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei claimed that history will remember Israel as the murderer of women and children.
In a statement issued this morning, Iran's Revolutionary Guards praised the ceasefire agreement, stating that it was a "victory" for the Palestinians and a "defeat" for Israel: "The end of the war and the imposition of a ceasefire is a clear victory and a great victory for Palestine, and it is an even greater defeat for the monstrous Zionist regime," the statement said.
Almost simultaneously, a tweet was posted on Khamenei's Twitter account in Hebrew, in which the Supreme Leader has been careful to insult Israel since the beginning of the war: "History books will write that there was a group that murdered thousands of children and women in Gaza!" "However, in the end, everyone will understand that the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and the Palestinian uprising and the front of the uprising forced the Zionist entity to retreat."
This morning, China, a friend of Iran and Russia, joined the countries welcoming the cease-fire agreement. The Foreign Ministry in Beijing said that China hopes that the agreement will be effectively implemented and will end with a full and permanent ceasefire in Gaza. He also expressed hope that the relevant parties would take advantage of the agreement to promote a de-escalation of the situation in the region.
