The Prime Minister spoke a short while ago (Wednesday) with the elected President of the United States, Donald Trump. Netanyahu thanked the elected American President Trump for his assistance in promoting the release of the hostages, and for helping Israel bring an end to the suffering of dozens of hostages and their families.

Netanyahu clarified during the conversation that he is committed to bringing back all the hostages by any means necessary, and he praised the elected American president for his statement that the United States will work with Israel to ensure that Gaza will never be a haven for terrorism.

The two have scheduled to meet soon in Washington to discuss this and other important matters. Afterwards, the Prime Minister spoke with U.S. President Joe Biden and also thanked him for his help in advancing the hostage deal.

As recalled Trump made the statement shortly after the announcement confirming the go-ahead with a hostage deal and ceasefire: "We will continue to ensure that Gaza does not become a haven for terrorism again."

U.S. President Donald Trump approved the signing of the hostage agreement and said, "We will continue to work closely with Israel and our allies to ensure that Gaza never again becomes a safe haven for terror."

The elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, confirmed this evening (Wednesday) the signing of the agreement between Israel and Hamas for the release of the hostages and the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. In a post he wrote on Truth Social, Trump said, "We have a hostage deal in the Middle East." They will be released shortly and will be back very soon. Thank you!".

According to him, "This tremendous agreement could only have happened as a result of our historic victory in November, as it signaled to the whole world that my administration will seek peace and negotiate deals to ensure the safety of all Americans and our allies. I am excited that American and Israeli hostages will return home to be reunited with their families and loved ones."

"With this deal, my national security team, through the efforts of Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Vitkoff, will continue to work closely with Israel and our allies to ensure that Gaza never again becomes a safe haven for terror," Trump clarified. "We will continue to promote peace through strength across the region, building on the momentum of the ceasefire to further expand the historic Abraham Accords."

"This is just the beginning of great things to come for America, and indeed, the world," he concluded. "We have achieved so much without even being in the White House. Just imagine all the wonderful things that will happen when I return to the White House, and my administration is fully confirmed, so they can ensure more victories for the United States!"

As a reminder, in recent months, Trump has threatened Hamas several times and called on them to release the hostages before his inauguration as president. "Everyone is talking about the hostages being held in such a violent, inhumane manner, and against the will of the entire world, in the Middle East – but it's all talk, with no action!" Trump said last month. "If the hostages are not released by the day I take office, January 20, 2025, the consequences will be unprecedented in the Middle East, and those responsible for the kidnapping will be struck harder than anyone else in the history of the United States."

Last weekend, Steve Vitkoff, the envoy of the elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, to the Middle East, made a surprise visit to Israel where he met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. At the end of the discussion, the Prime Minister instructed the head of the Mossad, the head of the Shin Bet, former Major General Nitzan Alon, and the political advisor Ofir Falk to go to Doha with the aim of continuing to promote a deal – which was approved this evening.
