On Tuesday night, an Israeli military vehicle struck an explosive device during a counterterrorism operation in Qabatiya, severely injuring a soldier from the Kfir Brigade and another from the Menashe Brigade. A reservist from the Kfir Brigade sustained light injuries.
The wounded soldiers were evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment, and their families have been informed of their condition.
In a related development, the Israel Air Force (IAF) carried out an airstrike in the Jenin area Tuesday evening as part of a larger operation. The details of this operation remain under a media blackout.
A joint statement from the IDF and Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) confirmed the strike, stating: “In a joint operation by the IDF and Shin Bet, an IAF aircraft struck a short time ago in the Jenin area in the area of the Menashe Brigade. Additional details to follow.”
This marks the first IDF airstrike in Jenin in about six weeks. Israeli security forces had avoided operations in the area recently, allowing Palestinian Authority security forces to target terrorist elements there.
The Palestinian Authority has reported that six individuals were injured in the strike, although these claims remain unverified.
