Pro-Israel Argentinian President Javier Milei has been announced today (Tuesday) as the recipient of the prestigious Genesis Prize for 2025, the first head of state to receive an award granted in past years to figures such as Nathan Sharansky and Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks.

The prize committee said that Milei was the "unanimous choice" of its nine judges for Milei's decision to move the Argentinian embassy to Jerusalem, reverse a policy of anti-Israel votes in the UN, and move to ensure justice for the victims of the Israeli embassy and AMIA bombings in 1992 and 1994, respectively.

Milei also stood strong in solidarity with Israel following the October 7th massacre, even visiting the country to tour some of the scenes of destruction left in the south and pledging his support for the Jewish state - in contrast to many South American countries which have criticized Israel and even joined a Hague case against Israel for committing "genocide" in Gaza.

The committee also praised Milei for his economic reforms, which have sharply reduced inflation in the country, and still enjoys over 50% approval rating despite the economic pain this has caused.

The Genesis Prize is awarded to "extraordinary individuals for their outstanding professional achievements, contributions to humanity and support for Israel."

It has been awarded to "Michael Bloomberg, Michael Douglas, Itzhak Perlman, Anish Kapoor, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Natalie Portman, Robert Kraft, Natan Sharansky, Steven Spielberg, Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks, Albert Bourla, and Barbra Streisand," among others.

“I am deeply honored to receive the Genesis Prize,” stated President Javier Milei. “Of course, I will not keep the monetary prize; I will donate it to causes that support freedom and the fight against antisemitism, both in Argentina and around the world. I have deep admiration for Israel, its history, and its people.”
